GREATER FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA | FOLK-ROCK / AMERICANA / ROOTS ROCK
Four musicians. One shared passion. A musical journey that's only gathering momentum.

Meet Engage
Some bands are content to find their sound and settle into it. Engage have other ideas.
Hailing from Greater Fredericton, New Brunswick, Engage are a four-piece folk-rock and Americana band combining heartfelt storytelling, powerful vocals and richly layered roots-rock arrangements with an infectious enthusiasm for making music.
Founded by Carla Bonnell and Rick Bartlett, the group brings together four seasoned musicians united by a love of songwriting, live performance and the creative possibilities that emerge when different musical influences collide.
Their sound moves comfortably between rock, country, Americana and roots, embracing the traditions of each while maintaining a musical identity built around strong songs and genuine emotional connection.
It's music that aims to speak across generations, bringing together the familiar warmth of roots music with the energy and conviction of a band that has no intention of standing still.
And judging by their remarkable run of achievements in 2026, that forward momentum is paying off.
Why We're Listening
There's something appealing about a band that combines musical experience with the enthusiasm of artists who still have everything to prove.
Engage bring together the storytelling traditions of Americana, the melodic accessibility of country and the driving energy of rock, creating a musical identity that welcomes listeners from different backgrounds and generations.
Their emphasis on strong vocal performances, thoughtful songwriting and the shared energy of live music reflects the enduring appeal of musicians making music for the sheer enjoyment of it.
But what particularly catches our attention is their attitude.
Despite an impressive collection of recent accolades, Engage approach their music with a refreshing sense of excitement and possibility. They're independent, they're enjoying the journey, and they clearly believe their best work is still ahead of them.
Boldly Going Forward
There's a story behind the band's name, and it's one that tells you quite a lot about their philosophy.
Engage takes its inspiration from Captain Jean-Luc Picard's famous command in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
For the band, it's more than a nod to a beloved science-fiction series. The command captures the spirit of taking chances, embracing new opportunities and having the courage to move forward.
It's a fitting name for four musicians who believe creativity should be an ongoing adventure.
After all, every worthwhile musical journey begins with somebody deciding it's time to make it so.
